The Industry Relations Manager supports the organization by generating private source income through co-op advertising and membership dues to meet annual goals. Goals include member recruitment and retention.
The Industry Relations Manager will perform a variety of sales and marketing tasks, direct the Industry Relations Coordinator and display a large degree of creativity and problem solving, particularly as it relates to accomplishing sales goals.
The Industry Relations Manager will serve as the primary contact to VSB’s membership base in order to strengthen engagement, and will assist in communicating and demonstrating VSB’s value to the local hospitality industry.
Generate Private Source Income
Meets or exceeds annual co-op advertising goal
Meets or exceeds annual membership goals
Researches and develops sponsorship opportunities as appropriate for the local business and/or tourism industry, including the subsidizing of annual VSB hosted events
Manages all sales for co-op advertising platforms: website, enewsletter, digital, etc.
Regularly prospects for new co-op sales opportunities within Membership
Develops distribution of communications for co-op advertising platforms
Distributes co-op contracts
Monitors fulfillment and inventory of co-op collateral materials
Develops and distributes monthly reports to advertisers
Manages all aspects of new member sales
Cultivates new and existing relationships with restaurants, attractions, lodging, retail and various other venues and organizations within the hospitality industry
Develops strategy to engage local tourism & hospitality industry through educational programming, networking events, etc.
Maintains ongoing customer service – based relationship with membership in order to ensure value of VSB services
Identifies opportunities for new, unique value offerings that promote member participation
Provides regular feedback on member activities, views, ideas and concerns
Reviews and recommends changes to membership program, such as fees, services, and benefits
Submits Industry Relations monthly staff report
Assists marketing team with the production of membership marketing materials
Maintains complete and accurate membership records and directs all department administrative and clerical functions
Coordinates with Operations Manager and bookkeeper to manage annual renewals
Plans and executes VSB hosted events, including Travel Outlook and Annual Luncheon.
Develops and maintains community tourism program – I AM Santa Barbara – that helps to empower and inform local employees about Santa Barbara and all it has to offer
Serves on committees with chamber of commerce, lodging association and downtown organization to jointly promote the destination
Oversees Industry Relations team and manages department budget
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Bachelor of Arts degree in business, marketing, or related field
Minimum 3-5 years of sales and marketing experience
Strong communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and customer service skills
Experience in producing events
Experience in creating sponsorship packages and opportunities
Excellent prioritization and time management skills
Familiar with current technologies and social media
Familiar with Microsoft Office suite
Strong administrative and collaborative skills
Knowledge of convention and tourism industries a plus
Familiar with Santa Barbara tourism product
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Must have valid passport, California Driver’s License, and auto insurance
Able to travel in a limited geographical region
Must have use of vehicle while on VSB business
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and transport VSB equipment and materials
Work hours vary and may require evening and weekends
