The Chief Sales Officer (CSO) provides leadership, direction, and resources to the sales department and is accountable for the overall sales department performance, the achievement of sales department goals and targets, and the alignment of the CVB’s sales strategy. This position oversees all sales activities in the Group Tourism, Convention & Sports sides of the business. The CSO directly manages a staff of 5-6 employees, including the Senior Sales Director, the Vice President of Tourism Sales, Director of Sports Business Development and Visitor Center Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 10 years experience in sales within a Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the Tourism Industry, Hotel Sales or a combination of all. Previous management experience is preferred.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:
Communication skills are essential for this position. Must be capable of clear and concise instruction to his or her staff as the head of the entire sales department, which determines performance and efficiency across the department. Interpersonal skills are also necessary to establish and maintain relationships on behalf of the organization; Must have experience packaging and closing deals with clients, and experience in executing large events (City-Parish wide) with multiple partners.
MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for leading the sales team to increase bookings through new client leads and relationships and designing and implementing appropriate sales strategies for each of the organization’s sales channels.
· Responsible for implementing key performance metrics for the sales team and working with team members to maximize success. Conducts regular research, keeps up with trends and best practices which gives the organization a competitive edge, and keeps the organization on par with the biggest players in the market.
· Generates reports, presentations and proposals for key stakeholders concerning the sales department as well as instructive materials for other sales personnel. Materials are to be clear, concise, understandable, and persuasive.
· Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including facilities, hotel General Managers, Owners, and more.
